Conan [MEX]
| Home | [c] cover.
Mexican (in Spanish language) pirate Conan before Marvel started their own official comic stories. The main character of the story was not Conan but Belit. Conan was a blond sidekick with Yanga. Belit's ship has changed from the REH original story's Tigress to Venganza (or the Vengeance), and a gang of black corsairs into Vikings. "With a certain success reached by the Conan, Belit and Yanga characters, the publisher decides to give not Conan but Belit her own title, which would be reissued a couple of times in the next decade." [Roy Thomas's Alter Ego #80 (2008)]
(Cuentos de abuelito, transl. 'Grandfather's Stories'; La Reina de la Costa Negra, transl. 'The Queen of the Black Coast')
Cuentos de abuelito #1–#61
1952–1953. Mexico: C.E.M.S.A. ("Corporacion Editorial Mexicana S.A."). Size 4-1/2" x 5-3/4". Cover price: 25¢ (from #44 or #45: 30¢). 36 pgs. [some of sources: Jungle Frolics blog | eBay | Highlights 1950–1959 of Queen of the Black Coast]
Cuentos de abuelito presented "Kun'ga, La Diosa de Oro" ("the Golden Goddess") in issues #1–#7, "La Reina de la Costa Negra" in #8–#46. The covers of #47–#57 presented La Reina and Kun'ga. Issues #58–#61 presented La Reina, Kun'ga and La Arana ("the Spider", the crime-fighting character look-a-like from the old pulp magazines).
In issues #20, #22, #27, #29, #31 appear a horror story, "El Monje Loco" ('The Mad Monk'). Nothing to do with La Reina de la Costa Negra.
There exists at least 134 (early 1960s) issues of Cuentos de abuelito, but La Reina ends at issue #61 (1953). Later there was more characters like, Kun'ga, La Arna and Gengis Khan. The 1960's Cuentos de abuelito was filled with with different kind of comics, like children's fairy tales [for example issue #117 was printed in 1963].
Early covers by "Hecky" (with sign, #8 and #10), later by Salvador Hermoso Lavalle (with sign several after #15).

La Reina de la Costa Negra [I]
Mexico: Editiones Mexicanas Asocidas (E.M.A.). Size 5.25"x7.5" (issue #3: 6-3/4"x9"). 32 pgs. Cover price: 80¢. | In B&W.
Printed weekly from Oct. 1, 1958 to Jan. 1959 (11 issues).
A black and white reproduction of covers from #2 to #4:
According to Angelfire the very first series of La Reina de la Costa Negra was printed already in Jan. 1953. Weather they're mistaken with the date or there exists only solo issue, since Cuentos de abuelito was running the same weekly.
All (?) covers (of V1) by Salvador Hermoso Lavalle (with sign, #2, #3, #4, #11).
La Reina de la Costa Negra [II]
Mexico: Ediciones Joma. Reprinted around 2008. 61 issues (1965–1966?). Size: 7"x10" (reprint, 8-1/2"x11"). 32 pgs. Cover price: $1.00. | In B&W.
Most likely La Reina de la Costa Negra [II] (1965–1966) was reprinting episodes from the Series 1 (1958–1959) and maybe also from Cuentos de abuelito (at least partly).
Serial reprinted also in 2008 (at least following issues #10, #37, #40, #47).
All (?) covers (of V2) by Salvador Hermoso Lavalle (with sign, #4, #8, #11, #20, #26, #27).
