Synopsis: Astronaut is isolated with spaceship on the alien planet. At home man has sweetheart, who finally dumbs him. Man goes mad, but finds comfort in his agony from the planet.
Comment: Arthur Suydam's story loads Corben's art with texts. Only in a long flashback and in the end story gets more lyrical spheres. The most interesting parts of Corben's art are at the very same lyrical moments. By the way, story is named as "Angel of Andromeda" though in comic there is a simple "Angel".
Giacomo Puccini's Madama Butterfly: The main protogonist is playing Puccini's Madame Butterfly for his only companion, a plant he's calling Ruby. It's like Wilson for Tom Hanks in the movie Cast Away (2000). The plant pod looks like a big vulva. Details of Madame Butterfly is everywhere on the story: the big love leaves him, he's thinking if the plant creature is spying on him, and in the end the creature is a butterfly with wings. And in the end the protogonist is kind of doing a suicide with Ruby, who can be a pure hallusination of his. Thanks to Sebastian Otten to point out the opera by Puccini.
