“Forgotten Tomb”

Synopsis: A group of archaelogists are after possible hidden treasures of ancient Egyptian tomb cavern. They have also two locals, who try to prevent their quest. Group finds their treasture and local guys mummy; but why Sandy is stripping?
Comment: This story of Corben’s own is very problematic, because it repeats in B&W shortened version of “Terror Tomb” (and here story is told through mummy’s point of view, “There were others [intruders] but I can’t remember well”). Story is even in most of picts the same! Same poses, same camera angles, same faces, same names, and same environment. Only what diverges is the ending and that this story is 2 pages shorter (and Snoopy’s disappearing is replaced with Sandy stripping off her shirt)! Oh, and story is not anymore humoristic. All these changes give nothing new for the story. There is no special reason for this retelling of the same story. Yes, Mr. Corben has changed/remake some of his art before (paintings for instance). He also did some extra pages on some of his stories (for example “The Secret of Zokma”, even there lengthen gives nothing new), or shorten by dropping off totally one page (“When Dreams Collide” or “A Gothic Tale [Part 2]”). He is artist and he can do with his art as he wants. But still I cannot understand this remake. As a separate story it is not a good one, and to know that it is actually a remake of old makes it even worser…
Extra: Horror in the Dark states this story as, “It is based on characters invented for an old Warren Publishing Co. story.”
