Horror in the Dark #1 to #4
Fantagor Press. 7″x10″. $2.00. 36 pages. Cover: glossy color. Guts: white (#4: glossy white). Reprinted in Tales of the Black Diamond (1993). [id]Serial ought to be five issues long. Mr. Corben writes in last issue (#4), Because of incredibly shrinking sales, this [#4] is the last of our horror series, and the last comic book from Fantagor Press for a while. – – To our loyal fans who subscribed to a five issue series, there should be some compensation enclosed with this comic along with our apologies – – To wind up this series, there are two episodes of Tales of the Black Diamond. Obviously, Cartoon of Blood was to have been in number five. Actually, Mr. Margopoulos wrote a sixth chapter that took place in the distant future, just in case we could stick it out an extra issue. – – Similarly, I had to cancel a commissioned back up story by Pat Boyette and another by Bill Wray. I have a stack of scripts written by Bruce Jones and Jan Strnad. And I was going to write a story based on our spider cover.” (Story based on spider cover appeared later in year 1993 as DenSaga #3: “Falling Angels”. Spider in the pict is called a sombosucker.)

Comic was originally done as a possible men’s magazine feature. [“Doom Battle”, Den [III] #5 (1989)].
This versin, B&W tonal remake. Most of text relettered. On last frame (last pg) saying, “I think it was a short in the sublimation curcuit” is turned to “I think it was a short in the sublimator circuitry”, and “Can’t you make it last longer?” to “Oh yeah? You’d better stop leaving those copies of MECHANICAL BREEDERS GAZETTE around in the hanger.”
